Working offline and the 30-day automatic release
How long you can work without internet, the license check every 6 hours, and automatic release of PCs unseen for 30 days.
Updated Oct 07, 2026
It works without internet
Building and exporting tours happens entirely on your PC. Internet is only used for signing in and checking your plan. So you can keep working for a while at a site or on a trip with no connection.
- Free · Starter: 7 days
- Pro · Studio: 14 days
Run the program once while connected within that window and the period starts over from the beginning.
Your plan is checked every 6 hours
Panohaus checks your plan with our server at startup and every 6 hours after that. These changes take effect at that moment:
- A plan you just paid for (right after payment the program checks immediately, so it applies within about a minute)
- This PC being released from another PC
- A subscription ending or a refund
The check exchanges only a tiny amount of data and doesn't affect your work.
When the offline period runs out
After the grace period, the program still opens and your projects still load. It just runs under Free conditions (10 panoramas per tour, 4K, watermark) until it next connects to the internet.
- Connect to the internet.
- Relaunch Panohaus or wait a moment.
- Your plan comes back immediately. Nothing else to do.
Project files are never deleted or locked.
Automatic release after 30 days unseen
A PC that hasn't checked in with the server for 30 days or more is released automatically. This stops an unused PC from occupying a slot and blocking you from linking a new one.
- Automatic releases do not count toward your deactivation limit. They're separate from the "3 per 30 days" limit for manual releases.
- To use an auto-released PC again, launch Panohaus on it and link it with the 8-digit code. If a slot is free it connects right away; if all slots are taken, you'll be asked to release another PC.
- For example, if you use Pro on an office PC and a home laptop, and the laptop stays off for two months, it's released automatically and you can link another PC in its place.
What happens to a released PC
Whether you released it yourself or it was released automatically, that PC signs out and drops to Free at its next online check (within 6 hours).
- Project (.ptour) files stay where they are.
- Tours you've already exported keep working.
- Link it again with the same account and your plan comes right back.
Tips before working on site
- The day before a trip or site visit, run Panohaus once where you have internet. The offline period restarts.
- If you'll be away longer than 14 days, connect briefly through your phone's hotspot partway through. A few seconds is enough.
- Your project is a single .ptour file, so keeping a copy on a USB drive is cheap insurance.
